NLPI STARS Team Orientation Meeting - March 17, 2004 Louisiana Tech University in Ruston was the site for the initial gathering of the NLPI Science and Technology Action Response and Stimulus (STARS) Teams.
Attendees made self-introductions and met the newly-selected NLPI staff.
A Powerpoint presentation of NLPI included: origin; role and relationship to Louisiana Vision 2020; goals, objectives, and timeline; participants and partners; and details of makeup, roles and responsibilities of the STARS teams.
Discussion included previous "success stories" of other such collaborations among the local industrial and educational institutions. Also discussed were advantages and disadvantages of the different professional disciplines working together.
Other presentations included: the NLPI Small Grants Program; details of the NLPI website; and a narration of Year One outcomes and next steps for the STARS teams and for NLPI in general.
