Louisiana Tech LONI Symposium 2005 - May 5-6, 2005

Louisiana Tech University is hosting the first Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI) Symposium May 5th and 6th at the University's Institute for Micromanufacturing (IfM).

The Symposium's objective is to familiarize university faculty with some of the diverse applications-focused high-speed and grid computing research activities related to LONI, and to explore new collaborative research and educational opportunities with regional partners.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Ed Seidel, Director of the Center for Computation and Technology at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. 

Other speakers include:

Lonnie Leger, Senior Optical Network Engineer - Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI)

Dr. Henry Neeman, Director of the Oklahoma University Supercomputing Center for Education & Research - University of Oklahoma

Dr. Parvati Dev, Director of the Summit Lab - Stanford University School of Medicine

Steve Beck, Professor of Composition and Computer Music; Director of the Laboratory for Creative Arts and Technologies - Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge

Dr. Horst Severini, Physics and Astronomy Scientist; Grid Computing Coordinator for the Oklahoma Center for High Energy Physics - University of Oklahoma

Breakout sessions during the Symposium will include modeling and simulation, bioinformatics and clinical informatics, creative arts and technologies, interactive visualization, and education and outreach.
