   Objective and Role:
    
    As a founding economic development partner of the Consortium for
    Education, Research and Technology of Northwest Louisiana (CERT)
    and the North Louisiana Partnership for Innovation (NLPI), the
    the Biomedical Research Foundation supports the efforts of the
    STARS Teams at the higher education member institutions of CERT.
   
    The Foundation's mission is to pioneer a knowledge-bsed regional
    economy by cultivating and attracting life science enterprises and
    related technologies.  We will promote and develop:
       -  Private and public suport and collaboration for a knowledge-
          based economic development strategy.
       -  InterTech Science Park as a suitable physical environment
          for life science enterprises and related technologies.
       -  Capacities and accomplishments, in collaboration with and
          support of, the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
       -  Human resources and the regional knowledge base via K-12,
          higher education and technical / professional training
          programs.
       -  Support and resources for technology and business innovation,
          with people, research, facilities, and funding.

    Partnerships:
       -  Math, Science and Technology K-12 initiative
       -  Biotechnology Ph.D. program with LSU Health Sciences Center
       -  InterTech Venture Fund
